Green Peas Masala Kerala style

Origin of this dish is unknown.. but its awesome. For a long period of time, this Green peas masala was my favourite side dish for roti. Green peas is not an easy-to-find vegetable in Kerala, but still peas masala is a favourite item in Kerala restaurants. It is a mildly spicy dish. This peas masala can be served with Indian flat breads like chapati, roti, Nan, appam, etc and ghee rice and other mildly spicy pulavs.
Preparation time: 30 mins

Ingredients

Green peas- 1 cup frozen and cooked
Tomato- 1 no sliced
Onion- 1 no large sliced
Green chilly- 1 no split
Curry Leaves- 1 strand
Coconut- 1 cup grated
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Red chilly powder- 1 tbsp
Coriander powder- 2 tbsp
Fenugreek seed- 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Water- 2 Cups
Coconut oil- 2 tbsp
Fresh cream*- 3 tbsp.

Method
Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onions, green leaves and green chilly. Saute it till the onion changes its color.
Add all the masala powders and saute for a min or two. ( until everyone starts coughing :) bcoz of roasted masala aroma)
Add tomato slices and saute till tomatoes are all mushy.
Add two cups water and green peas. Cover it with a lid and allow it to cook in medium flame. Once starts boiling, reduce the flame to low and open the lid.
Make a fine paste of coconut with fenugreek and as little water as possible and add it into this mixture. After adding the coconut paste when the gravy starts boiling remove from flame and add fresh cream.  Serve it with hot rotis.
