When your kitchen is running low on vegetables, this recipe comes handy. Its is a simple pulav with just carrot or/and green peas.
Preparation time: 30 mins
Ingredients
Basmati Rice- 3 cups
Green Peas- 1 cup heaped
Carrot-2 nos chopped
Black Pepper- 1 tsp
Cinnamon- 1/2 inch
Cardamom- 4 nos
Cloves- 6 nos
Method
I used cooked green peas. If using dried peas, soak them in water for atleast half an hour. Wash and strain basmati rice.
Heat oil in a pan. Roast the whole spices. If spices are not available, add 1 heaped tsp of garam masala after adding water.
Add the vegetables and curry leaves. Saute it for a min or two. You can also add coriander leaves instead of curry leaves.
Once the veggies are slightly fried add salt.
Add 5 1/2 cup of water. When water starts boiling, add cleaned basmati rice.
Lower the flame and close the vessel with a lid. Wait till water is absorbed and rice becomes fluffy. It may take about 10 mins.
Fluff the rice lightly with a fork. Serve it hot with Raitha and pickle.
